Dr. Ignacio Ginebreda is a leading expert in the treatment of bone dysplasia and other growth disorders, a pioneer in the use of the intramedullary nail technique for bone elongation in Spain.
With more than twenty-five years of experience, Dr. Ginebreda has combined his work activity as Head of the Growth Pathology Unit of the Department of the Locomotor System and Sports Medicine, at the Dexeus University Hospital of Barcelona, since 1985, with the teaching, serving as professor of numerous training courses on orthopedic surgery, lengthening courses and medical-surgical treatment of short stature, among others.
In his research role, from the beginning of his career he showed great interest in research, having published approximately 60 articles related to achondroplasia, bone lengthening, axis corrections and pathological short stature (2 indexed in international journals).
He is a regular speaker at conferences related to his specialty and former president of SEFEX (Spanish Society of External Fixation) as well as former President of the “International Congress on external fixation & bone reconstruction (ICEF & BR)”, President of the World Congress on External Fixation & Bone Reconstruction (2010), Member of the scientific committee for the 2nd World Congress on External Fixation & Bone Reconstruction (2012), and Former president of the Spanish External Fixation Society (2008–2010).
