Dr. Joaquim Casañas is the Director of a referral unit in Spain in hand surgery, peripheral nerve disorders and brachial plexus and neurorthopedics, by Spanish Health Minister for nerve, brachial plexus and neurorthopedics disorders.
He is the President of the Spanish Hand Surgery Society. He is a Member of several committees in the European Federation in Hand Surgery, and Member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Residencies at Foreign Institutions: Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, Hôpital Avicenne, Paris, Hôpital Bichat-Claude-Bernard, Paris.
Member of the American Society for Peripheral Nerve, and member of the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH), he has written over 25 publications and 14 book chapters and has been invited for many years to give lectures in the US and abroad.
